When you give of yourself, you must give fully,
completely, without restraint or hesitation.
You must give, knowing your reward will be the indifference
and callousness of those you serve.
You must give to all who ask, knowing those you turn to
will spurn your gift and mock your generosity.
And when you are spent, and you fall and are too exhausted
to rise, then you must get up and give yourself again, and again, and again,
until you have taken your last breath.
That is how Our Master gave to us; that is how we must give
to others.
Good thoughts, I would like to quickly add that I have heard that the Bible says you should not give your pearls to the swine. Could you explain what this means?
ReplyDeleteMatthew 7:6 - "Give not that which is holy to dogs; neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turning upon you, they tear you."
ReplyDeleteThis means the sacred mysteries (such as the Mass) are often misunderstood by those who are not Catholic, and are treated with disdain and sacrilege by those adamantly opposed to the faith. Indiscriminate distribution of the Eucharist, or preaching of the doctrines of the Faith to a crowd of militant atheists, is thus not wise, because it encourages mockery and scorn.
